Napa, CA

We were up and out by 6:30 local time. Hit the Silverado Trail and ended up on Highway 1; the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). WOW!! This is our first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. We finally made it!
Of course, we had to stop to touch the Pacific Ocean and pick up a couple of souvenir rocks. Rode on a little further and stopped for breakfast at the Queen's Roadside Café and looked out on the ocean as we ate. WOW!
There were a lot of scenic overlooks where you could see the very rugged coastline. We didn't see anyone swimming or even sunbathing; it was too cold to swim or bask. We did see a small group of wet-suited sea kayakers who had just returned from their morning trek.
The route took us over quite a lot of winding roads over the coastal range and back. It took a lot longer than we planned to ride this route and we were running out of time to make our reservations for the Napa Valley Wine Train. The winding roads eat up a lot more time than their distance suggests. We nearly panicked, but we made it just in time. We had to hustle, change clothes and go! WOW! Was the Wine Train fun!!! Roast Sirloin of Beef. Appetizer, salad, sorbet, dessert, and all the wine you want to pay for! So much fun. When we got to the d essert car they had a bar for wine tasting. It's kind of like doing shots-except classier. The train stopped about 10:30 p.m. local time. We fell into bed tired, happy, and full!!
