Greenfield, MA to Colchester, VT
We had a couple of days before the BMW Rally, so we headed back into New York
to ride around the upstate area. Stopped along the way to geocache and found one of the two we
looked for. Everyone knows that birds sometimes play chicken with passing vehicles on the highways,
and we saw a few doing just that. One bird that morning looked like it must have lost the game of
chicken because we saw it fly into the front of the bike, but did not see it fly off. We assumed it
was hit by the bike, but felt no thump. About five minutes later, the bird crawled up through the
fairing by the steering column and flew off, apparently unharmed. A bit unnerving to say the least,
but no harm, no foul. (pun intended) We spent a good part of the day riding around the Adirondack Mountains. A very pretty area and easy to understand why so many people want to travel there. We took the Fort Ticonderoga ferry from New York to Vermont over Lake Champlain. Checked into our room at the Motel 6 in Colchester, Vermont, (next to Essex Junction and the BMW Rally site) then it was pool time. We got the laundry caught up and were good for another 5-6 days. Walked a short distance to an Italian Restaurant for dinner, took a nice walk after supper; then it was time for some rest.
