Fontana Village Resort Monday, May 21, 2007 Odometer at beginning of the day = 39053 We left West Virginia at 8:30am riding South on some beautiful scenic roads. It was a gorgeous day. We stopped in Virginia for a butt break. We went through two long tunnels going through the mountains! Wow! We stopped in Tennessee for another butt break and then road into the Smoky Mountains. Virginia, North Carolina. Wow and Wow again! It is simply gorgeous. We arrived at 4:00pm at the Fontana Resort where we will be staying for a few days. Room 252 - Garden View building. Omygosh. This resort is rustic while posh. We have a room with a balcony that overlooks a babbling brook. There is an historic cabin, The Gunter Cabin, from days long gone that is located right on the grounds. We took a look at it, but it was not during visiting hours so we just looked through the windows at the sparse decor. For dinner, we dined on sushi grade Ahi tuna and perfectly grilled steak. The restaurant here is almost a gourmet experience.
