Odometer at beginning of the day =
39645 We got up at 7:00am Eastern time and got some coffee in the lobby. We
sat outside drinking our coffee while overlooking the pool and enjoyed
the sounds of the morning. Back to the room to get our gear and we are
off. Looked for a couple of geocaches and found both. Got on a section
of the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) and it took us to the highest point on the
BRP-6,053 feet. It was breathtaking! We turned off the BRP onto a road
that led us into the Pisgah National Forrest where we stopped for a butt
break at Looking Glass waterfall. The road led us to a small town and a
restaurant named Hog Wild where we enjoyed excellent BBQ. We tried
Eastern BBQ pork for the first time. It has a sauce that is thin, light
and tart with a definite vinegar flavor as compared to the thick sweet
red sauces we were used to. Hog Wild had a five foot animatronic Homer
Simpson statue that said "Mmmm Bar-be-que, and sang Shake Your Bootie!
while shaking his hips and swinging his arms. We headed back to the
resort and got a sprinkling of rain from a passing sun shower that felt
wonderful. Odometer at end of the day = 39807 Miles ridden today = 162 |
